Rua Food Cart – A Brief Glimpse at This Brand New Portland Food Cart!
Jason Myers opened Rua last week. Wow is the food good!
Let me say right up front – GO TO THIS FOOD CART!
I need to send out a BIG thank you to Todd Edwards for sending the text that let me know that Rua opened. Todd is the owner of the Ole Latte Cafe Food Cart and Todd, like me, is a fan of Portland’s GR8 Food Carts.
Back to Rua!
Rua is the second Food Cart that Jason has started. In the Summer of 2012, Jason started Sideshow Eatery. Duck fat fries, incredible burgers. I was very sad to see this cart go away. Jason closed the Sideshow Eatery on January 31, 2013 and he has opened Rua in it’s place.
Rua specializes in Vietnamese and South East Asian inspired food.
I enjoyed three dishes when I visited Rua last week – The Pork Meatball Sandwich, the Green Papaya Salad and the Saigon Fried Chicken. I loved all three!
The wonderful fried chicken was my favorite. I keep finding myself thinking about it and wanting more. Crispy. Flavorful. Perfect.
Rua is located at 950 SW Washington just a few carts down from Kargi Gogo

Here are a few photos I took during my first visit visit to Rua. I will be back. You can count on it. Sean and McKinze, owners of the Kargi Gogo Food Cart, say that the pistachio sauce that comes with the spring rolls is stupendous and I have to try it for myself!
By the way – while I was visiting Rua last week, I ran in Phil and Kim with BehindTheFoodCarts.com. One of the best parts of heading out a Food Cart adventure is the awesome people that you run into!
